So here we go. This is an early cut off of my next album. A lot of people have requested more of my YouTube-style jams, so this song is pretty much the exact jam I did in "messin with an e-piano sound" mixed down to 320Kbps. Figured this would be a good way to experiment with this fancy new shopping cart AND to see how people like it when I leave the grime in a track. Can't wait to hear your feedback. This method of blog-posting and selling music is new to me, but maybe it beats waiting on a complete album to be finished (still working on that!). Anywho, I hope you like the tune!!! It was definitely a fun one to create.
iTunes - this won't be a single release on iTunes, but it's not too hard to buy it this way and drop the MP3 into iTunes. It just adds an extra step.
PS. Thanks to my friend Fil Smyth for always telling me (and pretty much anyone he comes in contact with) to stay crunchy.

This is completely amazing. I hope that the next CD sounds this gritty and real. Your last album was fantastic, but I don't think it holds a candle to the improv stuff you do in your youtube videos. If this is any indication of how the rest of the CD is going to sound, I'm one very, very happy fan.

Ronald, I have some a Canon HD 1080p camcorder. It's just too bad I wasn't near you, I would shot you professionally playing this song, hd video, hq sound, work a little 5.1 magic and release this a bonus disc to your audio cd. I am sure you understand that a HUGE HUGE part of what people love about Ronald Jenkees is watching him play. The passion and emotion. People love it.
I just bought the song, ... just excellet. At first I was like, wth?
"stay crunchy?" but who am I kidding, the title is all you, it has your stamp on it. The title is something Ronald Jenkees would release.
Ronald, SERIOUSLY, if you really want to double / triple your revenue off your audio cd you need to release a short video concert. It would be a HUGE seller for you. In fact Ronald, you could do it. The editing software you would need is not that expensive. The big cost would be the HD camcorder and pressing the dvd's. You could save a lot of the cost by doing the audio yourself.

I'd love to have this on iTunes, is it possible to offer if there? That's my current preferred form of media buying. I'm sure a few others would also like it on iTunes? Either way, this is by far my favorite jam and have featured it on my blog!
The improv and cd versions of the songs are both different and both good. I like the energy that comes across in the improv versions. I also like the precision and audio clarity of the cd versions. Neither one is better, both have something to bring to the table.
From reading the interview, sounds like you need help with your packaging, shipping, and other stuff so you can focus the music! Maybe not total outsourcing (I wouldn't do that either), but ... just hope it's not crowding your music-making :)
About the Crunchy - nice preview :) I could do with a little less crunchy on the beat side, but that's just me. Or maybe it's my crappy speakers, I dunno. Still rocks out. Sometimes I prefer the youtubes without the extra tracks, but the sound quality here is super nice (like Sam said) /\
I'm waiting to buy the real 2nd CD - do you have a ballpark release date? Can you tell us more about Weezer and Papa Roach, or are you bound to silence about all that?

I was wondering if you are going to put the credit music from the youtube video of Stay Cruchy. I really like that part too. Also, I have to agree, we love to watch you play just as much as listening. Gotta say man, you have the ability to inspire people to "keep going" so thanks for the good words. Can't wait for the CD. Hope it comes with those little extras like the credit music and maybe a little behind the scene or performace clips.

It'll be so awesome to finally hear that one in CD quality digital audio as I've heard it on the YouTube page a few hundred times, and I even converted the audio to an mp3 myself for private listening. Amazing, simply amazing stuff.

Hey Ronald, great stuff. The grimy tracks sound utterly fantastic. Not to take away from your arranged music, but I much prefer your 'jamming' versions of most of the tracks. They have this extra kind of energy to them.
I'd vote for more of this kind of music release for your 2nd album, personally. Whatever it's like, I'm sure it'll be brilliant, especially if it contains gems like 'Throwing Fire' etc.
Preview sounds great Ronald - can't give a full review, I'm waiting for the full CD. But please don't fall into the trap of just repackaging your youtube jams. If all I wanted was your youtube jams, it wouldn't be hard to just record it from the vids. Please do your fans a favor and make sure to give us stuff that we can't already hear for free online. Still, I'm sure whatever you put out will be great. Thanks for your music and keep it up!

Your "guitar sound" and "e-piano sound" sessions are the best music I've heard in about a decade. I've gone back to those videos just time and time again. Perhaps because of the number of times I've heard them they are almost canon to me now but the new, grimy version seems less flowing; it makes the individual instruments more noticeable, perhaps at the expense of the whole. Please let me buy those two tracks just as they are, I've never heard anything like them.
Of course those two aren't the only pieces of yours I admire;Super-Fun, Throwing Fire and Disorganized Fun are all great among others.

I'm so amazed that you haven't been signed yet, you're obviously extremely talented and your music is VERY well produced. Everyone I've exposed to your music so far has LOVED it. Any semi-intelligent music label would HAVE to see the appeal of your music. Have you gotten any offers yet or do you just prefer to be independent? you could make a looooot of money with some promotion and mass distribution.

I agree somewhat with the sentiment that your improvised work has a certain type of energy to it - it makes one want to go out and make some music. It's incredibly inspirational. The edited stuff doesn't have exactly the same feel. It's really good, don't get me wrong, but it's like looking at two different brands of food in the grocery store.
Having mentioned that, I really dig 'disorganized fun' - I think it's my favorite work of yours so far.
While I'm at it, I would also like to pose a challenge to you, it's obvious that you can do gritty, dirty, clean, intense, spooky, and weird, but what about some other walks of music?
Could you do, for example, a slower southern beat or something that might be found in the backdrop of say, a rock ballad? Maybe some interesting seasonal music?
I'm really curious to see how well you can do other stuff and if expanding your unique blend of genres is something you might want to consider.
Either way, you're a top notch artist. It'll be a sad day when you stop making music.

The regular version is amazing, but the beatline or what it's called (i'm no expert on musical jargon) at 4:05 and onward in the version at the end there made the hairs on the back of my neck rise, it was so good.
I hope your new album is ready soon, can't wait to hear the new stuff, but i still listen to your first album on a regular basis:)

the preview makes me really happy to hear your second album, i feel like in your first album, the music was too polished and you were really lost.
the beats were great no doubt! The music was very good, but it just wasn't your style which is what i really liked, there wasnt enough adventurous improv in my opinion.

... This song for $1? Almost seems like to much for a dollar! As always I love your music man, but hearing this song finally mastered and in such quality... it blows me away.
Well, imo you need to mix the melody more with the song; it's -too- prominent (even as a melody). I believe it needs a reverb and possibly a delay effect. Don't be afraid to add effects to your sounds and try new things. ;) The pads and the works in the background are wayyyyy too low, bring those out man!

Hey. You may've noticed few mentions of how the mp3 preview and the youtube flick sounds a world apart even though it's the same. (People like the youtube sound)
What is happening here is that you have instrument (distorted epiano) that's sound is in some ways similar to a distorted guitar. On it's own it's a quite thin sound unlike the "wall of sound" you get in the youtube flick. Guitars are usually run through additional amps, compressors and even re-micd to capture the sound of the room.
What I'm saying that to satisfy people who are after the more full sound in your video, you should let a mastering engineer have a listen to the youtube video and tell him that you want to get similar full but airy and well breathing sound as opposed to the raw sound on the mp3 preview.
While your mixes on their own are mixed well on the mp3 sound, a professional mastering engineer and elevate the sound into the next level while either preserving things that you like to taking the sound into another direction.
Also: When taking mix to mastering, have a separate wav of all the tracks without any effects!
Mastering doesn't mean it will need to sound like a pop record - you can give the engineer example record that you like and he will make it sound more like that or tell him what you'd like.
This is exactly what I want to hear you pumping out. My friend introduced me to your youtube music today, and I haven't stopped listening. I went to buy your first CD, but it's too mellow. I love the grit, the speed, and the style in here. It's live, it's funky. Put out 10 like this and I'll pay for your next CD, and that's a promise.
